New Delhi: The Delhi police has arrested the youth who had shot the teenage girl in a Mercedes car outside her house in Najafgarh on Tuesday.
The police say that Shubham Gupta was arrested from a relative’s house in South Delhi where he was hiding along with his family members. The police has also recovered the victim’s mobile phone from the accused in which they have found videos and photographs of the girl moments before she was shot.
DCP (Southwest) Surender Kumar confirmed the arrest on Friday evening. During preliminary interrogations, Gupta claimed that he had shot Simran in a fit of rage after he found out about her affair with, Nitin. Shubham claimed that he was upset with Simran after she could not explain why she has been receiving calls from Nitin throughout their journey from Dwarka to Najafgarh after recieving a call from her mother. She had also asked Shubham to pose as Nitin while talking to her mother that made him suspicious about her intent.
Police sources say that the mobile phone video shows Shubham partying with Simran at a mall in Rajouri Garden.
Shubham claimed that he had dropped out of school a few years back and was helping his father in his business. He had met Simran at the locality three months back.
During this, Simran had not mentioned about her affair with Nitin and kept lying about him whenever she received a call from him in his presence.
