Minor girl raped in Vasant Kunj, condition critical

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified man on Wednesday night in Southwest Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area, said the police on Thursday.

The incident was reported to the police around 2  am on Thursday, following which a case was registered. The girl is being counselled and efforts are being made to identify the accused.

The minor was admitted to AIIMS in a critical condition, where she is undergoing treatment.

According to information, the victim lives with her family in Rangpuri area. She is a Class 4 student in a nearby government school.

On the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, the victim had gone to a nearby Porta Cabin toilet when an unknown person abducted her and raped her. Later, he left her in the bushes.

After some women saw the child lying in the bushes and informed others, she was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre.

Based on the complaint of the victim’s family, Vasant Kunj (North) police station has lodged an FIR and initiated a probe. However, the accused is still at large. Efforts are being made to nab him, police said.
