North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC)

New Delhi: North Delhi Municipal Corporation mayor Adesh Gupta on Wednesday said  that a three-member committee, under the chairmanship of additional commissioner, S.K. Bhandari, has been constituted to investigate into the allegations raised by former North Delhi Municipal Corporation additional commissioner Renu Jagdev against the municipal commissioner, for pressurising her to drop the ownership rights of the civic agency’s land worth about Rs 15,000 crore to favour a private builder in the national capital. Other members of the committee are additional commissioner  U.B. Tripathi and chief vigilance officer  Deepak Purohit.

The committee will submit its report in a month’s time. It will investigate all the issues raised in the complaint and will bring forth the facts. The mayor said that further decisions would rest on the outcome of the report.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Gupta said,  “Defaulters in the matter will not be spared, if proven guilty. We have zero-tolerance against corruption.” Amongst others present at the conference were  Standing Committee Chairman  Tilak Raj Kataria, Leader of House Jayendra Dabbas, and former member of Standing Committee Jai Prakash.

In her complaint, Ms Jagdev had claimed that the 95-acre land at Khyber Pas, which as per the Delhi government’s revenue records, comes under the ownership of north corporation, had been wrongly allotted to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, by the Land and Development Office (L&DO). She said, the matter was under continous discussion with the L&DO  since 2015.

But lately, she alleged she was being pressurized by the commissioner to accept the contention of ownership by L&DO and drop the matter so  that the building plan of “M/s Parsvnath” could be sanctioned and their project continued.
