New Delhi: A local taxi driver was arrested from national capital's Shahbad Dairy area on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl, police said.

The 39-year-old driver was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 on the complaint lodged against him by the parents of the alleged victim.

The incident came to light after the girl told her mother that the man physically assaulted her while driving her to school.

The investigation into the matter is underway, Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police added.
