New Delhi: With just a day left for the elections to three civic bodies, the professionals in the city feel that this time the young candidates fielded in by the political parties have a vital role to play in the elections. While majority believe that the saffron will rule the MCD elections also, others want that whichever party comes to power,  should deliver better services with no freebies.

Supporting the BJP in the upcoming elections, Pawan Pandey, an IT professional said that the party will surely win because they have been going strong over the years. “Specially with the young leaders being roped into the system, we are going to see the change within months. I want that BJP should deliver all the promises made in their manifesto up to the mark with a special focus on providing better education and food in MCD schools,” he said.

Recently, a survey was conducted asking whether the existing service delivery system had lived up to their expectations. While 45 per cent respondents said that the overall delivery of services had deteriorated, 43 per cent felt it remained more or less the same. Only 8 per cent felt the services had improved.

“Both the BJP and Congress have experience to run the government so I think anybody can come into power. But what matters more is that the services should be delivered with full commitment without any freebies. Whoever wins, should make waste segregation and overall sanitation to be priority of MCD,” Nishant Bhardwaj, an architect said.

Ananya Ranjan, an engineer by profession said that the saffron brigade could rule the MCD too. “They should focus on the major challenges faced by the city,” she said.
