DU announces trials for theatre, yoga quota seats

New Delhi: The Delhi University has announced list of preliminary trials for undergraduate seats, reserved for those who excel in extra-curricular activities (ECA).

Those applying under ECA quota can increase chances of securing their seat in theatre as their discipline course. The overall quota for the category would remain five per cent, but the internal distribution of these seats in colleges can be such that a maximum of 10 per cent of the candidates under the category are admitted in every course.

The dates for the preliminary trial rounds will begin from June 28 to July 5, the trials will be held on Sundays too. The timings will remain same throughout the dates at 9:00 am in 12 colleges like Kirori Mal College(KMC), Daulat Ram College (DRC), Miranda House, Shri Venkateswara College, Ram Lal Anand, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Rajdhani, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, Lakshmi Bai, Kamla Nehru, Bharti and Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College of Delhi University. There are 14 recognised activities like creative writing, dance, debate, digital media, fine arts, music (vocal), music instrumental (Indian), music instrumental (western), theatre, quiz, divinity, NCC, NSS and yoga under the ECA quota this year.

Yoga has been included in ECA this year which earlier was a part of the sports quota. By making this change the number of seats being offered by colleges in yoga is down to 10 from last year’s 23.
