New Delhi: A man was arrested at the Delhi airport after he allegedly used a fake ticket to enter the terminal area, officials said on Thursday. I.A. Bhat was intercepted by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel on Thursday as he was about to leave the Terminal 3 building of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, they said.

He was stopped and questioned as passengers are not usually permitted to exit the terminal area, the officials said.

Mr Bhat told the security personnel that he had used a “cancelled” ticket to enter the high-security terminal to see off his friend, who was travelling to Srinagar.

The man was subsequently handed over to the IGI police as his ticket was a fake travel document, the CISF personnel said.

The police added that the man was booked on charges of cheating, forgery and trespassing.
