New Delhi: A suspected aide of gangster Abu Salem has been arrested from East Delhi on Friday. He is wanted in several cases, including murder, attempt to murder and extortion.

Jaan Usman Khan alias Reenu, who is in his 30s and has a long list of arrests in Delhi and Mumbai, was nabbed from an area near Sanjay Jheel, said deputy commissioner of police (East) Omvir Singh.

Along with his two associates, Khan had allegedly shot his wife in Janakpuri on June 3. He had been previously arrested by Mumbai police on charges of firing at actress Raveena Tandon’s husband, Anil Thadani.

The police has recovered two live cartridges and an improvised pistol, which he had used to shoot his wife, from him. According to them, he was angry at his wife for “disappearing” for a week without informing him. The wife is said to be recovering from the incident.

After trying to kill his wife, Khan fled to Nepal to get help from his gangster friend Chakre Milan. But as Milan was arrested in May 2017 and the Nepal police is cracking down on Milan’s gang, he returned to Delhi, said the DCP.

He is an aide of gangster Abu Salem, who is currently lodged in Taloja Central Jail in Raigad and who was found guilty by a TADA court on Friday of transporting weapons.
