New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old flight attendant allegedly jumped off the terrace of her home in south Delhi’s Panchsheel Park on Friday.

He rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead, the police said. Her husband told the police that he had got a message from her saying she was going to take the extreme step and by the time he reached home, she had already jumped.

Anissia Batra worked with Lufthansa Airlines. Her family alleges she was harassed and the tortured from the day she got married to Mayank Singhvi two years ago. They claimed Singhvi was an alcoholic and often beat her up and demanded money. A case has been filed and her family members are being questioned, the police said.

Karan Batra, the deceased’s brother who stays in Bengaluru, alleged that Singhvi and his parents constantly tortured her.

“We were aware of it. Last month, my parents had to come from Chandigarh. Singhvi even hit my mother. In this regard, my father filed a complaint on June 27. Due to my mother’s medical condition, they returned back,” Mr Batra said.

If the husband tortures her and if she is physically harmed, these three people — Mayank and his parents — should be held responsible, Major Gen R.S. Batra had written in his complaint.

On Friday, Mr Karan added, “My sister texted us to call the police. She said Singhvi had locked her in a room.”

“We don’t know if he pushed her or she jumped voluntarily,” he said. Nobody from his family has called us. Singhvi has deleted all his social media accounts,” the younger Batra said.

Her post-mortem today was to be video graphed. When we went to AIIMS, the police in-charge assured us it was being done, but the doctors told us otherwise. The cops aren’t doing anything. The station house officer (SHO) isn’t listening to us,” Mr Karan alleged.
