New Delhi: In order to maintain the law and order situation, the city police on Thursday detained sacked Delhi minister Kapil Mishra en route to Jamia Nagar where he was going to meet a 72-year-old woman, whose property has been allegedly usurped by her stepson.

Kapil Mishra was detained in wake of the tweet on Wednesday that he would be going to Batla House to meet Mehrunnisa, whose stepson and his accomplices had allegedly fired at former Congress MLA Asif Mohd Khan when he had come to meet her. Her stepson was arrested in the case.

The police said that after the news of Mr Mishra visiting Jamia Nagar on Thursday, AAP MLA from Okhla sent out messages to community members saying that Mishra is backed by “right-wing” political parties and was coming to the area to create tension.
