Man, 19, stabbed after tiff over gilli danda, is stable

New Delhi: A 19-year-old man was allegedly stabbed with a knife in East Delhi’s Geeta Colony area after one of the accused got hit accidentally while playing “gilli-danda” on Tuesday. Doctors said that the victim’s condition is stable. The incident was reported at 4.45 pm in a park near Radaha Swami Satsang Bhawan in Geeta Colony when the victim, Vinod, was playing gilli-danda in the locality. During the match, the gilli hit one of the accused and that sparked a scuffle between them. One of the accused reacted to it, resulting to which the four accused started beating him and stabbed him in the abdomen. The police said the four accused allegedly involved in the case have been arrested and they have been identified as Devender, 24, Deepanshu, 23, Deepak, 24 and Chirag, 22. All are residents of Geeta Colony.

The police said that during the scuffle, one of the accused, Devender, took out knife from his pocket and stabbed the victim in the abdomen. Locals spotted him lying in a pool of blood and called the police control room. He was taken to Swami Dayanand Hospital and later shifted to GTB Hospital in Dilshad Garden in view of his critical condition.

“All the four accused were hiding at different places in the locality and were arrested in the mid-night,” said a police officer. Doctors have informed that the condition of Vinod is stable and he is out of danger, the officer added.
