New Delhi:A PIL has been filed in the Delhi high court challenging the scope and the role of the Delhi deputy chief minister, Manish Sisodia. The PIL, which is expected to be mentioned on Wednesday, has sought quashing of the appointment of Mr Sisodia and further declaring his orders as “illegal”.

The plea, filed by lawyer Vibhor Anand, says that there is no legal provision for the post as per the GNCTD act 1993.

The plea, which has made the Delhi Government and Union ministry of home affairs as party in the case,  states that, “public interest petition under article 226/227 of Constitution of India for issuance of writ of mandamus or any other appropriate directions or order or writ to the respondent 1-2 to quash the creation of the post/office of the deputy chief minister of Delhi currently held by Mr Manish Sisodia (respondent no 3) which has been created illegally by the chief minister of Delhi.”

The petition has been pitched as a public interest litigation, “ the  present Public Interest Litigation Petition has been filed to the benefit  of  public at large  as their  fundamental right of having a transparent and unbiased Govt.  under Article 239AA & Article 239AB of the Constitution of India has been taken away by respondents illegally.”
