27-yr-old Delhi woman raped on pretext of marriage for over 1 year
The woman alleged that she had accepted the accused's friend request on Facebook in 2015 after which they started meeting.
New Delhi: A 27-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man for one and a half years on the pretext of marriage after he befriended her on a social media site, the police said on Thursday.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that she had received a friend request from the accused on Facebook in December 2015 and she accepted it, after which they started meeting, they said in New Delhi.
The victim alleged that the accused had assured her of marriage and that he would also accept her daughter, police said.
The woman claimed that she had two abortions on the insistence of the accused, they said.
She said the accused and his family refused to accept her and threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone, police said.
The victim, who has separated from her husband, approached the police on July 10 and a case was registered at the Vasant Kunj Police Station. The matter is being probed, police said.
