New Delhi: Lieutenant-governor (L-G) Anil Baijal on Thursday visited the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) headquarters and directed it to increase green area in the city and to strengthen its public grievance system.

He also reviewed the authority’s ongoing projects and development initiatives along with DDA vice-chairman Uday Pratap Singh and other senior officers.

In a series of directions, Mr Baijal, who is also the chairman of DDA, directed the horticulture and landscape wings to work upon increasing the green areas in the national capital through proper interventions.

On the maintenance of existing commercial complexes, Mr Baijal observed that a suitable robust mechanism, in consultation with local bodies, shall be worked out for their regular upkeep and proper maintenance.

Emphasising upon the digital delivery of services to Delhiites, the L-G directed the officials to ensure timely and quick disposal of public grievances. He said that public grievance redressal in DDA is to be made completely online.

He directed the I-T wing of the authority to come out with a clear and implementable blueprint for all services on a digital platform within a month so that there is minimal human interface and maximum governance through the use of technology.

Mr Baijal stressed on the developmental as well as regulatory role of DDA and asked the officials to strictly monitor the timely and satisfactory completion of projects by regular coordination with various stakeholders.

He reviewed the status of implementation of the Master Plan of Delhi-2021 and the provision of the utilities or services, keeping in view the increase in population and deficit in infrastructure.

While appreciating the various sports infrastructure facilities built by DDA and the Biodiversity Parks, Mr Baijal insisted that awareness must be spread about the usage of these facilities and that their quality must be maintained.
