Police arrests contract killer in Dwarka

New Delhi: A contract killer, who dreamed to become big in Bollywood, came a cropper when he along with his two accomplices were caught red-handed on Thursday evening, while they had come to kill a businessman in Dwarka.

The arrested have been identified as Lokesh Chauhan alias Chunnu (21) and his associate Jai Singh (27) and Dharampal alias Pradeep (27). The trio had decided to come near Vardhaman Plaza, Matiala to meet each other.

The police said that based on a tip-off, they laid a trap and when the police surrounded the trio, Chauhan allegedly pointed a pistol at one of the constables, the police said. Chauhan, the prime accused, was overpowered and the trio were nabbed.

Four illegal pistols and seven live rounds of ammunition were seized from them, the police said. During interrogation, Chauhan disclosed that he was arrested for the first time in a motorcycle theft case and was lodged in Bhondsi jailĀ  for a week, Shibesh Singh, deputy commissioner of police, South-West, said.

He further said while Chauhan was spending time in the jail, he befriended many hardened criminals and thought of making a name for himself in the world of crime, Mr Singh said.

He was arrested in a case of attempt to murder in Gurgaon and was in jail for three months before being released on bail over a month ago, he added.

Chauhan was given a contract of `five lakh for killing a man in Dwarka. He, along with his associates, had planned to kill him and were out to execute the plan when they were nabbed by the police personnel yesterday, the policer said.
