New Delhi: With the arrest of two employees of an NGO, the Delhi police crime branch claimed to have busted a major drug syndicate being run by the employees the NGO SPYM (Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses) in their deaddiction center, said the police.

A team built under the supervision of DCP Bhisham Singh and ACP Aditya Gautam arrested Franklin Lazarus (54), and Manish Kumar (40), and recovered 3,800 Bup-renorphine tablets that are meant for people undergoing drug rehabilitation. The drugs were being sold illegally.

A tip-off was received that Franklin who is employed at SPYM deaddiction centre in connivance with his colleague Manish, is involved in illegal sale of the narcotic drug, which is being supplied by the government to the deaddiction centers.

The NGO SPYM was working on a project from NACO (National AIDS Control Organization) for drug addicts who use medical syrin-ges to inject different narcotic drugs in their body and usually share the same syringe.

Frankiln was a drug addict for 28 years but managed to deaddict himself and worked as a councilor in deaddiction centres.in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
