On Tuesday, it once again extended the relief till February 8, the next date of the hearing.

An order issued on December 8 last year had stated that the hospital cannot admit any new patient and was directed to close all its operations.

NEW DELHI: Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh on Tuesday, was granted permission to continue operations for a month till a final decision is taken in the matter.

The relief was granted by the Court of Financial Commissioner, which had earlier issued a stay order on the Delhi government’s decision to cancel the license of the hospital. The hearing began on Tuesday morning and went on for around 30 minutes.

The license of the Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh was cancelled last month by Directorate General of Health Services, under the Delhi Nursing Home Registration Act, days after a newborn twin was erroneously declared ‘dead’ by it.

An order issued on December 8 last year had stated that the hospital cannot admit any new patient and was directed to close all its operations, including the out-patient department (OPD) and emergency services with immediate effect.

However, on December 20, 2017, the Court of Financial Commissioner, which is the appellate authority that looks into 22 statutory acts passed by the government, including the Delhi Nursing Home Registration Act, granted a stay order applicable till the next date of hearing. On Tuesday, it once again extended the relief till February 8, the next date of the hearing.

“We are confident of a favourable outcome from these proceedings,” said a statement by Max Healthcare Authorities.

“The Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh continues to serve more than 15,000 patients in its OPD and 3,000 patients in IPD per month,” the statement added.
