2 held in Udyog Bhavan fake job racket
Accused posing as govt employees cheated close to 16 persons.
New Delhi: Two men posing as employees of Udyog Bhavan were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly cheating job aspirants on the pretext of getting them government jobs. This newspaper reported about the “job racket” on Monday.
The two accused — Rakesh Kashyap (37) and Salauddin (32) — were arrested on August 8 from Udyog Bhavan. They have cheated close to 16 persons till now. On July 28, Sunil Kumar Golti approached the police with a complaint that he and his cousins were cheated by a group of men.
Mr Golti told the police that the accused claimed to be lower division and upper division clerks respectively. They assured the victims of arranging government jobs upon payment of Rs 4 lakh per candidate, said B.K. Singh, deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi). The trio first met one Rajbir, who introduced them to Shri Kant (portrayed as Kashyap) and Ajay Kumar. The two were impersonating as employees of Udyog Bhavan.
The victims were called thrice to Udyog Bhavan on the pretext of filling up application forms, interviews, and written exams. The trio even underwent a medical examination at GTB Hospital. They paid Rs 50,000 each at every step. The accused even showed the trio their results on a “fake SSC site”, said the officer. However, after the trio couldn’t find their result on SSC’s original website, they sensed something was amiss and lodged a police complaint.
The CISF staff posted at Udyog Bhavan was apprised of the case and the photographs of the accused were shared with them. On August 1, the CISF staff shared information with the local police about the presence of the suspects. By the time the police reached Udyog Bhavan, the suspects had already left the premises in a car.
Kashyap and Salauddin were nabbed on August 8 from Udyog Bhawan while they were carrying out a job interview of a potential victim, said the officer. Two more accused — Noor Hasan alias Rajbir and Shan Mohammad alias Sonu — are yet to be nabbed.
The mobile phones of the accused were recovered from which the fake “SSC link” was shown to the complainants. The arrested accused also revealed that they have used similar modus operandi by conducting interviews of job aspirants at other government buildings, including Shastri Bhavan, said the DCP.
