New Delhi: A staffer working at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi has been arrested for allegedly stealing USD 400 from the wallet of a flier during security scanning on Monday.

Officials said the incident was reported around 11:00 am when the Dubai-bound flier, identified as R Anand, complained to CISF officials that cash of USD 400 (over Rs 27,000) was missing from his wallet when he collected it after security checks done at terminal-III before boarding.

The CISF officials went through the CCTV footage of the security-hold area and detected that the staffer, identified as Asif Khan working as loader, stole the money from the wallet when it was kept in the tray.

"The loader was intercepted in the terminal area by CISF men and the missing USD 400 were recovered from his possession. He was handed over to Delhi Police which booked him on criminal charges and arrested him," they said.

The Aerodrome Entry Permit (AEP) of the said loader will be cancelled, they added.
