NEW DELHI: Delhi police arrested three men for allegedly gangraping a 16-year-old girl and assaulting her male friend in Shalimar Bagh park last month. One of the accused had also allegedly raped another minor.

According to the police, the girl was gangraped, while her male friend was beaten up. The accused also snatched their mobile phones. The incident took place on December 16 last year, which marked five years since the brutal gangrape and murder of a 23-year-old paramedical student in a moving bus in Delhi.

The accused were identified as Shiv Prasad, 33, Arun Yadav, 36, and Kamlesh, 28, said a police officer. Among them an accused, Prasad, was wanted for raping a minor in 2013.

Earlier, the police had suspected the victim friend’s role after finding inconsistencies in his version. They also suspected that he could have known the accused.
