New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday blamed the BJP government at the Centre for the “economic mess” in the country. He also said that the Centre either does not know how to tackle the situation or is not bothered about the common people’s problems.

“Petrol/diesel prices touching an all time high. Rupee falling to a historic low. BJP’s Central govt, in its last months, either does not know what to do or is simply not bothered about the hardships it is heaping on Aam Aadmi. Economy was never in such mess!,” he tweeted.

His party too blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the deteriorating economic condition of the country. The AAP said that petrol and diesel prices were touching an all-time high while the rupee was falling to a historic low.

“The Aam Aadmi Party is of the clear view that the grossly incompetent Bhartiya Janata Party government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Mo-di has failed to address the concerns of rising fuel prices and depreciation of the rupee. The price of petrol has risen to `79.15 per litre while that of diesel stands at `71.15, figures that the people of the city have never seen before today. With rising fuel prices, there is a legitimate concern that inflation will also be impacted adversely and will spiral out of control in the time to come. Ordinary citizens have already been feeling the pinch of the government-created slowdown as a result of demonetisation and poor implementation of GST. In this atmosphere of economic uncertainty, the rising fuel prices coupled with a weak rupee send out a very worrisome message about the state of the economy,” the party said in a statement.

“The Central government has shown remarkable carelessness when it comes to the economy,” the party said.
