Audit finds irregularities in functioning of EP cell

New Delhi: An audit, conducted for the land and building department and evacuee property (EP) cell, found irregularities in the functioning of the EP cell for the period of 2015-17.

It was revealed during the course of the audit that the rents are not being collected regularly. In addition, an amount of Rs 87,996 was raised by the unit towards rent/damage charges, for the year 2013-14, which amassed to Rs 13,43,32,391 lakh in the year 2014-15.

The audit statement said, “It has been revealed that the EP cell has maintained a simple dispatch register for the collection of rent and arrears from tenants of 683 properties in different municipal wards of Delhi. It is noticed that rents are not being collected regularly.”

The EP cell was transferred to the government of NCT of Delhi in 1989.

“During the test check of the evacuee property, rent demand, and collection register of acquired immoveable properties (other than agriculture), it is observed that all the columns of the register have not been filled properly,” the statement added.
