New Delhi: With a view to provide convenience to its commuters by ensuring last mile connectivity from the areas falling in Faridabad, the e-rickshaw service was formally flagged-off from the Escorts Mujesar Metro Station on Saturday.

Thus, Faridabad becomes the third city to have the e-rickshaw facility from Metro stations after these services being launched in Vaishali and HUDA City Centre earlier this year.

This is only the first fleet of 150 e-rickshaws being launched on Saturday which will cover four metro stations in Faridabad namely Escorts Mujesar, Bata Chowk, Neelam Ajronda Chowk and Old Faridabad.

Next year, a total of 1000 e-rickshaws will cover all the stations falling in Faridabad region of Haryana.

“This eco-friendly initiative of introducing E-rickshaws at the Metro stations will enable the commuters to prefer non-polluting public transport modes over personal vehicles. The prime objective behind provision of last mile connectivity is to promote the use of public transport and to provide speedy, reliable and easy access to metro stations and to transit points/destinations,” said Mr Sharat Sharma, Director, DMRC.

DMRC has partnered with M/s Treasure Vase Ventures Pvt. Ltd. to operate the services in Gurugram and Faridabad under their brand name smart-E.
