New Delhi: An NGO has alleged that the G.B. Pant Hospital under the Delhi government had run out of Hepatitis C medicines, which is causing inconvenience to patients.

“After a prolonged struggle, DNP+ and patients with HCV (Hepatitis C virus) were happy to see roll-out of treatment in G.B. Pant hospital, which included free medicines. However, within a month or two, we started to face stock-outs of HCV medicines Sofosbuvir, Daclatasvir and Ribav-irin — which are the backbone of HCV treatment,” the Delhi Network of Positive People said.

It said that around 20-30 Hepatitis C patients visit G.B. Pant hospital every day and they had in April written to the hospital authorities to restore the supply of these medicines. It claimed that currently, there was no stock of Daclatasvir in the hospital.

“We urge the Delhi government to restore supply of Hepatitis C medicines in G.B. Pant and extend treatment of viral hepatitis to other hospitals too,” Paul Lhungdim, president of the NGO, said.
