Man held for robbing jewellery in Dwarka

New Delhi: The Dwarka police has arrested a  man for stealing jewellery and cash. The accused identified as Akash, 24, told the police that he has been stealing jewellery for the past one year as he wanted to gift these to his fiancé  on the first day of their marriage. 

S. Singh, DCP,  Dwarka, said, “Akash said that he started committing the-fts and burglaries to consume drugs. The police recovered gold, diamond and silver jewellery worth Rs 20 lakhs from his possession along with LCDs, laptops and ATM cards. So far, 17 cases of burglaries, thefts have been solved. 

Police said on the intervening night of March 24 and 25, Viresh Kumar’s home was burgled. After scanning footage of 25 CCTVs installed there they also came to know that he was bitten by a dog. 

They also went to various hospitals where the accused had treated himself for dig bite. On March 31, based on a tip off that the accused would come to Uttam Nagar to commit another burglary, the team laid a trap and apprehended the robber.
