Minor girl offered ride, gangraped by two men

The police is trying to identify the flat where the victim was allegedly gangraped.

New Delhi: A 17-year-old was allegedly gangraped by two men after they offered her a ride in New Delhi on Wednesday night. She was later thrown off from the car in front of her house by the men. The police has arrested two people in this connection.

The arrested have been identified as Vikas (26) and Manjeet (27), both known to the victim and residents of Uttam Nagar. A preliminary probe indicates that one of the accused Manjeet, allegedly had political affiliations with the Aam Aadmi Party for a brief time. Vikas and Manjeet run a small-time real estate business.

The police said that the incident took place in Bindapur area at around 8.30 pm on Wednesday night. According to the police, the survivor who is a student of Class 11 was offered a drink laced with sedatives by the perpetrators, who then took her in the car and raped her. In her statement to the police, the girl alleged that the accused allegedly offered her a spiked drink and then took her to a flat in Gurgaon where they took turns to rape her on Wednesday, the police said. They dropped the girl outside her house after the incident. She later narrated the incident to her parents who the rushed her to Deendayal Hospital.

The victim told the police that the accused picked her up from outside Uttam Nagar metro station while she was on her way to school. On the basis of the girl’s complaint, a case under relevant sections of IPC and Pocso was registered at Bindapur police station, the police said. Surender Kumar, DCP (Southwest) said Vikas was arrested on Wednesday and Manjeet was nabbed on Thursday, adding that their car has also been seized. The police is trying to identify the flat where the victim was allegedly gangraped.

According to a senior police officer, Manjeet, during questioning claimed to have affiliations with Aam Aadmi Party. He told the police that he worked with AAP, but quit soon. This statement is being verified.

In another incident, a 35-year-old woman has alleged that several men raped her over the past four years in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar area.

According to the police, the woman approached the police and lodged the plaint on Thursday and a case under sections of rape and human trafficking has been registered. The woman has been married for the last 20 years. Over the last four years, men raped her repeatedly most of whom she knew. She told the police that her husband allegedly charged money from the men, the police said.

She said that she has a four-year-old son and her husband used to threaten her that he would kill him if she tells anyone about the rapes. Based on her complaint, the police has arrested the husband of the woman and is questioning him in this regard.
