4-storeyed building collapses in Delhi; 1 injured, family escapes unhurt

New Delhi: A 39-year-old man suffered injuries while three of his family members had a narrow escape when a four-storeyed building adjacent to their house collapsed in east Delhi's Shakarpur area in the wee hours today. 

The commercial building stood on a disputed plot near V3S Mall and had been lying unoccupied.

Another two-storeyed building stood on the same plot. Mohan Chand Sharma and his family lived in it. Sharma suffered minor injuries in the building collapse. His wife and two sons, aged nine and 14 years, were safe. 

Police said five fire tenders were rushed to the spot to carry out the rescue work. 

Residents alleged that they had alerted the authorities about the poor condition of the four-storeyed building but no action was taken.
