New Delhi: Days after two office bearers from his constituency exchanged blows, BJP candidate (East Delhi) Gautam Gambhir said that he does not see any infighting and factionalism in the party. Talking to this newspaper exclusively, Mr Gambhir said that he is contesting the election on development agenda to make East Delhi the best constituency of the national capital.

On Sunday, BJP’s coordination meeting for the East Delhi seat turned violent when two key office bearers exchanged blows with each other in the presence of party Lok Sabha in-charge Rajiv Babbar. When asked about infighting and factionalism, Mr Gambhir said that he has a “fabulous” team of BJP leaders and workers who chipped in his campaigning.

When asked about the special assignment given to BJP national vice president and Delhi in-charge Shyam Jaju to manage his poll affairs, the former Indian opener said that the appointment was made by the party and that the party leaderships would explain better about the reasons behind Mr Jaju’s new assignment.

When questioned about the goof ups in his campaigning, the cricketer turned politician said that these were small issues and were rectified or resolved accordingly. He said that these things should not be made into a big issue.
