New Delhi: A 29-year-old man was allegedly waylaid and shot dead on his chest thrice by unidentified bike-borne men in Delhi’s East Kaanti Nagar area on Friday night following a verbal duel. The police suspects personal rivalry could be the motive behind the cold-blooded murder. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Abhay Kumar, owner of a TV and computer repairing centre at Krishna Nagar. He is survived by his wife, an eight-year-old son and an 11-year-old daughter.

Investigations revealed that as Abhay was heading home after shutting the shop, unidentified miscreants travelling on a bike approached him and picked-up an argument, following which one of the assailants took out a pistol and shot him, the police said.

The police said that the attackers shot three rounds, in which Kumar sustained two bullets in the chest while one in the abdomen. The assailants then fled from the spot. Passersby who noticed Kumar lying in pool of blood rushed him to Doctor Hedgewar Aarogya Sansthan Hospital, from where he was referred to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police has launched  massive manhunt to arrest the fleeing assailants and are probing all possibilities. During investigation, the police learnt that the murderers had come with an intent to kill Kumar as the valuables were intact.
