Getting down and dirty with your partner obviously feels good. But did you know that sex is good for your health as well? Scientists have found that making love has a feel good factor associated with it and there is an ‘afterglow’ which lasts for up to 48 hours after doing the deed, which could include a quickie as well.

That is not all, studies show that sex boosts the immune system, strengthens the bones and even reduces wrinkles and cures insomnia.

We list 10 health benefits of having sex

Sex boosts the levels of a human’s anti-ageing hormone DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone).

Sex improves fertility: Regular sex helps improve men’s fertility. Tests have shown that a man’s sperm quality drops through abstinence. And the lowest quality sperm is found in men who haven’t had sex for ten days.

It protects the heart: Studies have shown that sex can help prevent a heart attack. A study in Belfast showed that sex three times a week could halve the risk of a heart attack or stroke.

Sex banishes wrinkles: Sex helps the body produce the hormone oestrogen. It produces the hormone that tightens the skim and smoothes fine lines on face.
