Mumbai: Marking the onset of spring and end of winter, the triumph of good over evil, Holi is just around the corner. This festival of colors is all about being playful and vibrant but for those who celebrate the festival, post Holi skincare is a must, especially after all the chemicals the skin gets exposed to.

Locally available colours are generally adulterated and synthetic and contain chemicals like lead oxide, copper sulphate, etc. which can cause the skin to become rough, patchy and even irritable, and lips to become dry and chapped.

Furthermore, for skin that is already exposed to such chemicals, using products containing artificial fragrances or colours, petroleum, SLS/SLES, silicones, parabens, etc can cause drying, roughness and irritation.

While natural alternatives are a great choice for skincare, especially for skin exposed to chemicals, it needs gentler care and chemical free alternates. One can go back to the basics and follow a simple post Holi routine to cleanse, deep cleanse, and moisture the face and lips.

A mild face wash and cleansing lotion can be used repeatedly to help remove colours, oil, dirt, and other pollutants from the skin. The SoulTree Indian Rose Face Wash for dry to normal skin types contains Turmeric which aids in healing, and the Nutgrass Face Wash for oily to combination skin that contains Neem can control skin breakouts, making the skin naturally clean, soft, and radiant.

Cleansing Lotion with Aloe and Rose Water can be used with a cotton wool pad to remove other impurities from the skin, leaving it feeling fresh and hydrated. Walnut and Turmeric Face Scrub which is suitable for all skin types can provide deep cleansing that is required post-Holi to help with removal of tan and dead skin, thus balancing the pH levels of the skin, naturally exfoliating dead skins, and tightening the pores.

Post thorough cleansing of skin, the Nourishing Cream with Saffron and Almond Oil can be applied generously. Using it twice a day post-Holi will heal any irritation caused by the sun or synthetic colours, thereby smoothening and softening the skin. SoulTree also has a range of 4 healing and moisturising Lip Balms with the goodness and benefits of Kokum, Honey and 7 Organic Oils.

So, celebrate this festival of Holi with your loved ones and don’t let skin-related worries dampen your spirits. Treat your skin to the goodness of natural and organic products that nourish from within.
