Dhanush M, a first year mechanical engineering student, last month, made a name for himself, as he won the first prize in ‘Roborace’ challenge and bagged a cash award of
Rs 1 lakh in the World Robotics Championship —TechnoXian 2017, which was held in New Delhi.

The event, which was organised in association with Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India and All India Council for Robotics & Automation (AICRA), saw a total of 45 teams from 12 countries participating in this category.

Dhanush, who is a student of Aalim Muhammed Salegh College of Engineering, shares his memorable experience with us. “Instead of calling robotics a passion, I would say that it’s more like a hobby. So, it was very satisfying to win something which I had been indulging in during my free time,” states Dhanush.

Speaking about the preparation, he says, “I had participated in several other competitions prior to this and they served as a learning curve to me. Honestly, I didn’t need that much time to get prepared because of this.” When asked if he wishes to pursue robotics in future, he says, “I’m learning it only step by step, and I am more inclined towards automation.”

The robot designed by M Dhanush was the fastest and reached the finish line gaining 94 points during the competition.
