When people hear that someone is attractive, they immediately think of a pretty smile and a pretty face. But to be honest, there’s so much more to these. For instance, a pretty smile could be the one with crooked teeth, but genuine happiness. Here are a few things you can do to bring out that hidden attractiveness within:

1. Volunteer and help

There’ something very gratifying about helping those who are less fortunate than you. While there are NGOs that you join or volunteer with, it’s also a good idea to start out on your own. Take up small scale activities initially, and then move on to bigger initiatives.

2. Find your purpose

Now this is a tricky thing. Some people are well aware of what they want to do right when they are teenagers, and they follow it relentlessly. Others take time and might realise their purpose sometime much later in their life, say around 60. Nonetheless, there’s no formula to this. You can deliberately hunt for your calling, or let sheer luck strike you- it’s all a matter of time.

3. Kindness and empathy

When Cinderella’s mother offered her the secret for life’s trials, she was actually imparting some real wisdom. “Have courage and be kind”, she said. Also, empathy is a rare possession; only few have the will power to not just feel the troubles others go through, but also act on them.

4. Express gratitude

Whining about everything you don’t have is a major turn off for anyone. On the other hand, men and women who express gratitude for all the things they have and cherish are extremely attractive. Do away with all the negativity in your life, and it becomes easier to feel good more often.

5. Read

Don’t even start with excuses already. Pick up a book of your liking; politics, travel, food, culture, or just some quality fiction, and spend at least an hour reading up on it. Expand your horizons, and learn as much as you can about the world.

6. Travel

This one should probably not be a problem. You don’t need to always go for the fancy itineraries and luxurious stays. A budget trip can teach you a lot about so many things. From staying in dorms to packing tightly, from trying local food to experiencing festivals, there will never be any dearth of all that there is to learn.

7. Smile as often as you can

You can’t be a puppet and have a fixated smile all the time. But laugh openly when you wish to, and do so without holding back. Find humour in the situations life throws at you. And what does it even cost to stay happy most of the times?
