People across the world have been trying out various cosmetic products, medicines, surgical procedures and home remedies to enhance their looks. While a healthy lifestyle is known to be the key for staying young and beautiful, surprising and at times bizarre beauty secrets have been discovered from time to time.

The mention of cannabis may be associated with imagery of people smoking up and getting high, but this year seems to establish it as much more. Luxury brands are all set to launch beauty products which will have cannabis as the hottest new ingredient.

These cosmetics will have extracts of the cannabis sativa plant and brands are busy proclaiming its anti-ageing, anti-inflammatory and skin repairing properties. Cannabis has already been legalised in 29 states in the US making it a big market for these products.

Hemp oil made from seeds of the cannabis plant and cannabidiol from its flowers are the secret ingredients. Hemp seed oil is known for its moisturising properties as it contains more fatty acids than other vegetable oils.

CBD’s anti-inflammatory potential is essential for anti-ageing as a dermatologist suggests that reducing inflammation also helps slow down ageing. But experts also ask people to be careful since studies about cannabis so far are small and studies on a larger scale post legalisation will reveal more.
