Designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s label, synonymous with grandeur and elegance, celebrated 33 successful years in the fashion industry. And B-town who has long been associated with the two stepped in to show support for the veteran designers. Carrying on their signature surreal style on the ramp, their 33-year celebration was grander than any other. From elegant lehengas to funky colourful ensembles, this collection brought out the best from the duo. “It is in our DNA as artists to always tell many stories through a single show. We are always restless, ever enthused by a desire to break boundaries and make the impossible, reality,” says Abu and further adds, “This collection sees a new birth as we celebrate our own history and write the future.

We are reaching out, challenging ourselves in our continuing mission for beauty. It is a statement of our commitment to reinvent ourselves, to reach ever higher, to set a new standard of expression."

The show was opened by newcomer Meezan Jaffrey, sporting a black sherwani with printed pants, opened Abu Sandeep’s debut collection Mard. On display at the show was a funky colour palate with the neons, 3D tailoring along with the classic monochrome tones.

But the designers saved the best for the last as showstopper Deepika Padukone walked dressed in, what the designers call "The Circle of Life" ghagra. The handcrafted Ghagra was embroidered with pearls, Swarovski stones, and resham embroidery, paired with a crystal and pearls blouse. The actress couldn’t stop gushing and says, "I am delighted to be here this evening and walk for Abu and Sandeep. Their work is priceless. It’s a fantasy ensemble, perfect to mark their design milestone."  The icing on the cake was her inpromptu gig with the designers to the beats of Disco Deewane. Surely a night to remember!
