Thrilling footage shows bear engaged in fierce showdown with a tiger

Having grown up with stories like The Jungle Book, most of us at some point of time may have imagined a thrilling face off between its characters. Several encounters in the wild have also been captured in viral videos on the internet in the past few years, but none of them was close to that epic showdown.
Now a video from the Tadoba National Park in Maharashtra is creating a buzz online as it features a bear involved in a fierce battle with a tiger. The video starts with the big cat chasing away a sloth bear but then the bear decides to charge at the striped predator.
At one point the tiger tries to pin down its adversary which struggles to escape its grip. Both tried to dominate the fight which left the animals with injuries.
It started with the bear approaching a water body with her cub as the tiger attacked her. It was motherly instinct that made the usually defensive bear fight back allowing the cub to escape.
The bear’s fur protected her from further attack since the hair didn’t let the tiger maintain a grip.
