A new study now finds that people who have wider, square faces have higher sex drives and are more likely to cheat on their partners.

Researchers have found those with broader facial features are also more aggressive and sexually driven.

The team, led by psychologist Steven Arnocky at Nipissing University, Ontaria, measured faces of undergraduates who were in relationships and interviewed them about their sex lives.

The study found that those who had wider faces had more relaxed attitude about casual sex and were linked with tendencies such as unethical behaviour, prejudice and psychopathic traits.

Interestingly, they also found that such people were more likely to be wealthy and more attractive to the opposite sex for one night stands.

The researchers hope that their findings will shed light on the role of facial features in sexual relationship and partner selection.

The study saw researchers asking a series of questions to participants following which they took a picture of each student to analyse their facial width-to-height ratios (FWHR).

Dr Lefevre has previously found that men with wider faces tend to have higher levels of testosterone but warned against over simplifying his latest findings.

The study appears in the journal Archives of Sexual Behaviour.
