A number of cases of children born with strange physical deformities have been reported in the past few years. While life can be a struggle for such kids, thankfully medical procedures are equipped to help them.

In yet another astonishing case, a child born with three legs has the extra limb removed after a surgery that lasted for 10 hours. The leg belonged to a parasitic twin which the baby had absorbed as a foetus.

This isn’t the first such case as several instances with a parasitic twin inside a child or emerging as an extra organ have been recorded. The amputation was delayed since the boy’s family wasn’t in a good financial condition.

The baby was diagnosed with pygopagus parasiticus, a birth condition observed in one in a million pregnancies. The boy was also born with a congenital heart condition.

The decision to remove the third leg was taken after extensive discussions with a team of doctors and nurses. They started correcting the right leg after removing the one in the middle.
