Eminent Indian classical dancer, instructor and choreographer Mrinalini Sarabhai passed away in Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad. She was 97-year-old.
She was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday as she was suffering from old age health related problem.
According to the reports, she was kept in the ICU. She passed away in her home and her daughter Mallika Sarabhai was present with her at the time of her death.
Born in Palakkad to social worker and former parliament member Ammu Swaminathan, she was acknowledged and facilitated with many awards in recognition of her contribution to art.

She was also the chairperson of the Gujarat State Handicrafts and Handloom Development. She was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1992 and the Padma Shri in 1965.
