A wrong attitude

Your editorial Curb racist behaviour (May 27) rightly underlines the need to root out prejudices against Africans. Advertisements of fairness creams that associate a dark complexion with ostracism and fairness with popularity should be banned. Repeated audiovisual propaganda by celebrities through such advertisements strengthens the myth that associates beauty with a fair complexion and, as a result, ugliness with a dark complexion.
