By detaining journalist Siddharth Varadarajan at Allahabad University, members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad have shown that there is no method of intimidation they won’t exercise to curb free speech. The ABVP did not allow Mr Varadarajan to set foot on campus, calling him “anti-national”. Later when he visited the vice-chancellor’s office, the ABVP refused to let him leave the campus.
