Save animals

Union minister Maneka Gandhi’s anger at her colleague, Union minister of state for environment and forests Prakash Javadekar, for allowing the culling of wild animals in several states is justified. In the last six months, three notifications were issued by the environment ministry that declared wild animals “vermin” in some states. Recently, the ministry declared the nilgai as vermin in Bihar. Animal populations can be controlled through other means instead of hiring shooters to kill them.
