Rafale trumps Tejas

In response to Mohan Guruswamy’s article, No happy landing with Rafale (Jan. 26), I would like to state that while the Tejas is a formidable aircraft, it has not been tried and tested in actual combat like the Dassault Rafale. Strategic choices are not just about pragmatism but grandstanding as well. In the end, it is the seeming invincibility of an aircraft fleet that acts as a deterrent. The Rafale deal is the additional bonhomie with France, a nation destined to fight terror in all its forms. The Rafale outsoars Tejas on many levels.
