Apropos the report, Shivpal Tadav ‘snubs’ CM, picks tainted names for UP polls (Oct.4), after 2012 UP Assembly elections Mulayam Singh Yadav made Akhilesh CM, sidelining his brother Shivpal Yadav, and also made him state president of the Samajwadi Party. Now he suddenly stripped Akhilesh of the state chief’s post, giving it to Shivpal. Shivpal expelled many Akhilesh supporters and has now announced 17 new candidates, replacing many belonging to the Akhilesh camp. The new candidates include a murder accused and a scam accused, while Akhilesh is strongly opposed to such elements. If Mulayam is thinking that he can lead his party to victory in the election by belittling Akhilesh and fielding tainted candidates, he is grossly mistaken. He should not forget total rejection of mafias and criminals by the voters in the last elections.
