Lodha makes sense

The Justice Lodha panel’s recommendations to clean up cricket are sensible and timely. The two welcome suggestions are to legalise betting and to bar ministers and government servants from holding any posts in the BCCI.

Legalising betting in India will curb the generation of black money, help government earn taxes and provide employment to people. The absence of ministers in the BCCI will ensure that the focus remains on promoting sport and not politics. This is also a good step to prevent power tussles and needless controversies.
