Let A.M.U. be

The Centre’s withdrawal of the appeal filed against the Allahabad high court judgment which held that Aligarh Muslim University is not a minority institution shows that the government doesn’t care about our minorities’ advancement. Muslims make up the country’s largest minority and it is well known that religion informs the minutest aspects of their lives. In this sense, minority universities allow them to pursue education according to the tenets of their religion. Reserving seats for a community in a university doesn’t deprive general candidates of an opportunity to study. The Centre should keep politics aside on the AMU issue.
