The Bombay high court has directed the CBFC to issue an “A” certificate to Udta Punjab with just one cut. The court didn’t find the script misleading or affecting the sovereignty and integrity of the nation. This is a message to the censor board and those in power to stop dictating creativity in cinema and other art. It is a relief that the story of Punjab’s struggle with drugs will finally be there for all to see without any patronising cuts.
