The news of a journalist’s suicide in Faridabad after she was accused of blackmail and extortion by a doctor couple on whom she had done a sting — exposing them for allegedly practising female foeticide — is saddening. Add to that the angle of her policeman friend having pushed her to take the extreme step and the matter only becomes queerer. But what’s more revealing is the fact that the organisation where the young journalist worked was quick to suspend her as soon as the accused doctors filed a case of extortion against her.
