A helping hand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise to farmers at a rally in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, to double their income by the year 2022 is welcome. It is heartening to see that Mr Modi has a comprehensive plan for poverty alleviation of farmers. Coming after BJP MP Gopal Shetty called farmer suicides a “fashion”, Mr Modi’s promise is reassuring.
