Gujarat swansong

Did mishandling of the Patel andolan and dalit protests suddenly enlighten Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel that she has gone weak and is some months away from the retirement age set by the BJP Or did she avail of the first escape route to relinquish office with some amount of dignity That she took to the social media to announce her decision shows that something was amiss. Ms Patel’s decision defies logic. It also shows that the BJP has indirectly admitted that all is not well, and if the chief is not changed its ship is sure to hit the rocks in the Assembly elections next year.
